The Art of Participatory Design

Co-curated by Lizzie Muller and Lian Loke, The Art of Participatory Design was a programme of creative experiments that accompanied the Participatory Design Conference held in Sydney in November 2010. The programme drew together art and design practice in order to consider how we conceptualise, critique and work with participation, and how we engage meaningfully with people, places and situations. It included the Take Part workshop, “X” – an exhibition of work by Natalie Jeremijenko at the UTS Gallery, the Remnant Emergency Lab, and OWL –  a series of participatory workshops by Danielle Wilde and Kristina Anderson.

Take Part Workshop Convened by Lizzie Muller (AU) and Lian Loke (AU)

The Take Part workshop explores the philosophical, ethical, political and methodological crossovers between artists and designers working with participatory processes. It brought together artists and designers who have developed innovative methods for collaborating with audiences and end-users. The workshop aims to actively develop shared possibilities for collaborative research between these two communities of practice.
